Ricardo Garcia is thrillingly described as possessing a voice, “at times lilting and lyrical, at times intense with excitement.” He makes his Opera San José debut in these performances and also this season debuts Verdi’s Requiem (Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra). For the past two seasons, he was a member of Staatstheater Darmstadt ensemble at which his roles included Alfredo in La traviata, Lenski in Eugene Onegin, Andres in Wozzeck, Alfonso in La muette de Portici, Cassio in Otello, and Oronte in Alcina.
Recent performances include Tamino in Die Zauberflote (Florida Grand Opera), Roméo in Roméo et Juliette and Fabrizio Naccarelli in The Light in the Piazza (Central City Opera), Nikolaus Sprink in Silent Night and Valcour in L’amant anonyme (Wolf Trap Opera), Roméo in Roméo et Juliette (Boston Lyric Opera), Father in Seven Deadly Sins (New World Symphony), Grimoaldo in Rodelinda (Aspen Music Festival). As a former Butler Studio Artist of Houston Grand Opera, he sang Alfredo in La traviata, Roméo in Roméo et Juliette, and Papi and Jasper in Snowy Day.
