Opera San José Audition Notice
2026/27 Comprimari, Chorus, and Cover Auditions
Opera San José is currently casting Comprimari/Small Roles, Chorus/Ensemble, and Covers/Understudies for our 2026/2027 season. A current list of open positions can be viewed online at https://www.operasj.org/about-us/auditions
We welcome applications from both local Bay Area and out-of-town singers. Due to limited housing resources, priority may be given to artists who are able to work locally.
We encourage artists of all backgrounds, identities, and experience levels to apply. We are committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment throughout the audition and rehearsal process.
In-person auditions will be held in San Jose, CA on:
Monday, May 18, 2026 (10AM-6PM)
Tuesday, May 19, 2026 (10AM-6PM)
Wednesday, May 20, 2026 (12PM-8PM)

Materials will be reviewed and auditions will be scheduled on a rolling basis. Any questions about audition requirements or application details may be sent to auditions@operasj.org.
While we value the opportunity to hear artists in person, we are committed to giving full and equal consideration to video submissions. Please note this on the application.
We strive to make our auditions accessible to all. If you require any accommodations (e.g. mobility access, additional time, other audition considerations), please let us know in advance so we can support you.
All applications are due no later than Friday, May 1, 2026 at 5:00PM (Pacific).
