Nicholas Tabora (he/him) is a Bay Area actor returning to Opera San José, where he previously appeared as A-Rab in West Side Story. His recent stage credits include Killer Queen in We Will Rock You at San Jose Stage, Freddy Eynsford-Hill in My Fair Lady at San Francisco Playhouse, and Jean-Michel in Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella at Hillbarn Theatre. Across the Bay Area, Tabora has appeared as Princeton in Avenue Q and Wes in The View Upstairs at New Conservatory Theatre Center; Lumière in Beauty and the Beast at Cabrillo Stage; William Barfée in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee with Bay Area Musicals; Hunter in [title of show] at Los Altos Stage Company; and Bernardo in West Side Story and Piragua Guy in In the Heights at City Lights Theater Company. His work spans musical theatre, opera, and contemporary performance throughout the region.
In addition to performing, Tabora has worked in arts administration for more than five years and is a co-founder of Aviva Arts, a Bay Area nonprofit organization exploring the intersection of arts, wellness, and community while centering underrepresented narratives. Offstage, Tabora works as a marriage and family therapist specializing in transitional age youth and LGBTQ+ therapy. He earned an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Palo Alto University. He
is also a graduate of Santa Clara University, where he earned a B.S. in Accounting and a B.A. in Theatre Arts, with minors in Mathematics and American Musical Theatre.
