Leandra Ramm, mezzo-soprano, is celebrated for her “extraordinary voice” (Anderson Cooper 360), described as “beautiful and quite moving” (Nordstjernan Newspaper), and known for her “brilliant” performances (San Francisco Classical Voice). Ms. Ramm made her solo debut with San Francisco Symphony in Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas and returned as alto soloist in Bach’s Magnificat under the baton of Jane Glover in 2023. Other notable performances include Third Lady in The Magic Flute with Livermore Valley Opera and L’enfant et les sortilèges with Pacific Symphony. Ms. Ramm is recognized for her authentic portrayals of “pants roles” and recently garnered acclaim for the Rooster and Blue Jay in The Cunning Little Vixen with West Edge Opera, Anybodys in West Side Story, and Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus with Pocket Opera. Her work as a concert soloist encompasses Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Duruflé’s Requiem, Britten’s Rejoice In the Lamb, and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, performed at prestigious venues including Cal Performances at Hertz Hall and Herbst Theatre.
Ms. Ramm thrives in contemporary and new works, boasting an extensive repertoire. She has portrayed First Witch in Dido’s Ghost with Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, performed the live piano/vocal premiere of Centuries in the Hours by Lisa Bielawa at John Zorn’s The Stone in New York City, and appeared in Bielawa’s made-for-TV opera, Vireo. Notable credits also include starring in ‘Ecstasy’ presented at Soundbox by San Francisco Symphony, Johnson’s Four Note Opera with Solo Opera, and Serafina/Spirit Woman in La Llorona with Opera Cultura. She is featured on the Grammy-nominated recording of Ligeti’s Lux Aeterna on SF Symphony + and on the cast album of Mack and McGuire’s Lucinda y las Flores de la Nochebuena. Ms. Ramm maintains an ongoing collaboration with San Francisco Opera, returning for her fifth season with the SF Opera Chorus this Fall in Simon Boccanegra.
