Bass-baritone Joseph (Yoseph) Park is quickly gaining national attention as a rising talent and versatile singing actor, praised for his rich vocal color, commanding stage presence, and charismatic artistry.
In the 2025–2026 season, Mr. Park will appear with Opera San José as a cover for Tonio in Pagliacci. He will return to Fort Worth Opera as Prince Yamadori in Madama Butterfly and portray Balthazar in Amahl and the Night Visitors. He will also make his debut with Park City Opera as Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia. In addition, Mr. Park will be featured as the bass soloist in Handel’s Messiah with the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra.
In the summer of 2025, Mr. Park joins Des Moines Metro Opera as an Apprentice Artist, performing The Keeper of the Madhouse in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress and covering Daland in Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman.
Previously, he was a Gerdine Young Artist with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, where he appeared as Angelotti in Tosca and Elder Ott in Susannah. His debut was praised by critics, with one review noting, “This bright newcomer uses his rich voice and charisma to deliver a captivating debut performance.”
Mr. Park also received critical acclaim with Winter Opera Saint Louis, where his portrayal of Geronte was described as bringing “a clear, rich bass that almost surprises us,” and further praised as “too good… Park swaggered onstage handsome, virile, better tailored, and in glorious voice.”
During the 2022–2023 season, Mr. Park was a Resident Artist with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, performing Marchese in La Traviata, Dancairo in Carmen, Dad in Sketchbook for Ollie, Balthazar in Amahl and the Night Visitors, and Ranger Nat in Listen, Wilhelmina.
In the summer of 2023, Mr. Park was featured at the Aspen Music Festival, performing General Benjamin in concert presentations of Jimmy López’s Bel Canto and appearing as the bass soloist in Haydn’s The Creation.
His operatic repertoire includes Friar Lawrence (Roméo et Juliette), Simone (Gianni Schicchi), Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte), Don Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Samuel (Un ballo in maschera), Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), Prince Yamadori (Madama Butterfly), Colline (La bohème), and Geronte (Manon Lescaut).
On the concert stage, Mr. Park has appeared as a soloist in Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Fauré’s Requiem, and the world premiere of Leo Sowerby’s Psalm Symphony, in addition to frequent performances of Handel’s Messiah.
Mr. Park has received top accolades from numerous prestigious competitions, including the Jensen Foundation Competition, Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, Gerda Lissner Foundation International Vocal Competition, Annapolis Opera Competition, Birmingham Opera Competition, and SIYAO Competition.
He holds an Artist Diploma from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, where he was a recipient of the prestigious Renée Fleming Endowed Scholarship.
