Internationally acclaimed Mexican-born César Delgado has been praised for his “generous, lustrous tenor” and “committed, energetic acting” by Opera News. Mr. Delgado has been steadily building an active career that finds him regularly on the US, German and Mexican musical scenes.
This season Delgado just made his company debut with Teatro de Bellas Artes, with National Opera Company (Mexico) as ‘Rodolfo’ in La Bohème. He also made his company debut in the same role of’ Rodolfo’ in La Bohème with San Diego Opera (USA). Delgado is making his return to Nashville Opera as ‘Edgardo di Ravenswood’ in Lucía di Lammermoor. César Delgado is returning to Opera San Jose to perform “B. F. Pinkerton” in Madama Butterfly. He just returned to Opera Southwest to perform the soloist tenor in Verdi’s Messa di Requiem. Delgado is also scheduled to perform “Alfredo” in Traviata with Estado de Mexico Symphony Orchestra (Mexico).
Last season Delgado has joined the Metropolitan Opera roster covering the tenor lead role of ‘Arcadio’ in the premiere of Florencia en el Amazonas.
Operatic highlights from previous seasons include: Creation the title role, in the world premiere, of ‘Zorro’ with Fort Worth Opera & Opera Southwest (USA). As ‘Edgardo di Ravenswood’ in the new production of ‘Lucía di Lammermoor’ directed by the legendary Brigitte Fassbaender with Regensburg Theater (Germany). As ‘Duca di Mantova’ in ‘Rigoletto’ with New Orleans Opera (USA). As ‘Nemorimo’ in Elisir d’amor with Monterrey Opera (Mexico). As ‘Don Ottavio’ in Don Giovanni with Gulfshore Opera (USA). As ‘Mr. Rodríguez’ in Tobias Picker’s Awakenings, this production was also recorded for a CD album opera release (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.). Mr. Delgado has sung the title role of D. Catán’s ‘Il Postino’ in the New York City Premiere, and he appeared as ‘Arcadio’ in the Latin American premiere of Florencia en el Amazonas (Mexico), This production was also recorded for a CD album opera release. Concert highlights include Mahler’s ‘Das Lied von der Erde’ with the Ontario Philharmonic Orchestra (Canada). Beethoven’s 9th symphony with Solistas de America Orchestra (Mexico). He made his Carnegie Hall debut with the Giulio Gari Foundation winners concert in 2018 conducted by the legendary Maestro Eve Queler. The Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle in New York in 2018. Beethoven’s 9th Symphony in a great concert commemorating 150 anniversary of the historic Degollado Theater in Guadalajara, México with the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra in 2016.

Sinaloa International Singing Competition (Mexico) 2017. The “Murray Rosenthal” Major Award at the Opera Index International Competition (NYC) 2016. Opera San Miguel (Mexico) 2015. In 2015, he was chosen to participate in Plácido Domingo’s New York City Masterclass, sponsored jointly by Opera News and the Metropolitan Opera Guild. He was also invited to participate in the first International Residency of the Ryan Opera Center by Chicago Lyric Opera. Mr. Delgado graduated with a Professional Artist Studies from Mannes College for Music (2015) granted with the “President Full-Scholarship”.
