Soprano Laura Corina Sanders, hailed for her “honeyed soprano” and “sweet, amber tone” is a native of San Francisco and newly based in Washington, DC. Her accolades include 1st place of the 2018 Lotte Lenya Competition, 1st place in the 2023 Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Houston Career Grant competition, 3rd place in the 2026 National Opera Association Carolyn Bailey Argento Competition, and an encouragement award in the 2019 Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions. She is an alum of multiple prestigious Young Artist Programs including Wolf Trap Opera, Central City Opera, Shreveport Opera, Charlottesville Opera, and Opera Orlando.
Laura received her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from the Eastman School of Music. She was credited for her “polish and glowing professionalism” by Opera News for her performance as Berta in Il barbiere di
Siviglia at Central City Opera. This season, she made house debuts covering the role of Yniold in Pelléas et Mélisande at Opera Baltimore and performing as Elvira in L’Italiana in Algeri at Northern Lights Music Festival. Other notable roles include Susanna, Gilda, Gretel, Zerlina, and Kao Kalia Yang/Joua Thao in the world premiere of The Song Poet at Minnesota Opera.
