Shanley Horvitz, Soprano
Soprano Shanley Horvitz is an American artist acclaimed for her ability “to spin lovely, warm legato phrases, replete with ease of emission, dynamic variety, elegance, yet holding obvious power in reserve.”
Shanley has found profound artistic resonance in her collaborations with Opera San José and is deeply honored to return as a resident artist. She made her American debut as Meg Page in Falstaff and was awarded second place in Opera San José’s Irene Dalis Competition. She was further featured as Irene Dalis in the company’s winter digital fundraiser, a tribute honoring its distinguished artistic legacy.
Her recent role debuts include La Vestale in La Vestale with Teatro Grattacielo. She has also appeared in Vienna at Palais Ehrbar in concert with the PolyMuse Orchestra, and is a featured performer in the Candlelight Concerts series, touring immersive concert experiences that bring classical music to audiences throughout the Philadelphia and New Jersey region.
A native of New Jersey, Shanley is a graduate of Westminster Choir College. She is honored to return to Opera San José, where she will also appear as Mercédès in Carmen in the company’s 2027 spring production, and for her upcoming portrayal of Golda in
Fiddler on the Roof, an iconic role within a work that reflects and preserves Jewish tradition. This connection extends into her work as Director of Marketing and Communications for Aleph, a leading international nonprofit in Jewish renewal, where she advances global access to spiritual and artistic programming through innovative and inclusive programming.
