Johnny Villar is thrilled to be making an appearance in Opera San Jose’s winter fundraiser, having been employed as Patron Services Representative for the company since 2021. You’ve probably seen him working at the California Theatre box office window, and he is very grateful (and quite pleasantly surprised) to have been asked by writer-director Tara Branham to join the cast of this original production. A graduate from NDNU in Belmont where he earned his B.A. in 2014, Johnny has won awards locally in filmmaking, acting, singing, and writing, and you might have even heard him singing and being interviewed on local San Jose airwaves as far back as 2005, when his childhood band Billy the Kid were the runners-up in 98.5 KFOX’s Last Band Standing Competition that year. On stage, Johnny was most recently seen last year in Coastal Repertory Theatre’s production of Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Nile.
