Joseph Marcheso

Mr. Marcheso returns conducting his ninth production for Opera San José which includes last season’s productions of La traviata and Faust. Last year Mr. Marcheso joined the conducting staff of San Francisco Opera for the west coast premiere of John Adams’ Nixon in China and the San Francisco premiere of Jake Heggie’s Moby-Dick. He returns this year for the world premieres of Mark Adamo’s The Gospel of Mary Magdalene and Tobias Picker’s Dolores Claiborne as well as a new production of The Flying Dutchman. In 2013, Mr. Marcheso joined the conducting staff of Washington National Opera for their production of Manon Lescaut. He has also conducted Hailstork’s Joshua’s Boots for the young artists at Opera Theater of St. Louis as well as productions for Festival Opera. Next year, he returns to OSJ to conduct performances of Hansel and Gretel and Madama Butterfly.
