becerraAVanessa Becerra returns during the 2017-18 season, appearing in the title role of the North American premiere of Alma Deutscher’s Cinderella. Ms. Becerra made her company debut during the 2016-17 season, performing the role of Musetta in Puccini’s La bohème.

Ms. Becerra is a native of Fort Worth, Texas and a recent graduate of LA Opera’s acclaimed Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program where she was seen as Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro, Papagena in Die Zauberflöte, Annina in La traviata, and Gossip 2 in the Grammy Award winning performance of The Ghosts of Versailles.

Ms. Becerra enjoys a long relationship with The Glimmerglass Festival where she recently portrayed Laurey Williams in Oklahoma! Prior to this she was a member of the famed young artist program covering Pamina in Die Zauberflöte. In 2014, she made her professional debut with her home company, Fort Worth Opera, in the world premiere of With Blood, With Ink where her “sunny, youthfully appealing soprano created an irresistible characterization” (Opera News).

The 2017-18 season marks debuts for Ms. Becerra with LA Phil as Papagena in a program of excerpts from Die Zauberflöte conducted by Gustavo Dudamel, Lyric Opera of Chicago as Miss Lightfoot in Fellow Travelers, Opera Omaha as Glauce in Medea, Atlanta Opera as Johanna in Sweeney Todd, Opera Delaware as Sophie in Werther, and in concert as a featured soloist with the Dallas Opera orchestra.
During the summer 2014 Ms. Becerra joined the Apprentice Artist roster at Des Moines Metro Opera and in 2013 she was a Studio Artist with the Wolf Trap Opera Company. She received her master’s degree from The Boston Conservatory and her bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University.
