Melissa Nicole Torchia makes her company debut in 2016-17, designing costumes for the company’s West Coast premiere of Puts and Campbell’s Silent Night. Ms. Torchia has an extensive background in professional costume design with such companies as Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, House Theatre, California Shakespeare Theatre and Drury Lane Oakbrook. Recent design credits include creating costumes for California Shakespeare Theatre’s King Lear, Windy City Playhouse’s Chapter Two, Court Theatre’s production of Native Sun, Lake Forest College’s Failure: A Love Story, Steep Theatre’s The Vandal, and Chicago Shakespeare Theatre’s Midsummer ‘Short Shakes,’ to name just a few.
Awards and recognitions received include the Jeff Nomination, the Prague Quadrennial Student Exhibit, the USITT Young Designer’s Forum and the Shellie Award.
Ms. Torchia received her BFA in Theatre from the University of Arizona, and her MFA in Costume Design from Northwestern University. She currently teaches at Lake Forest College in Illinois.
