albertsonAKyle Albertson makes his company debut in the 2016-17 season, appearing as Lt. Horstmayer in Puts and Campbell’s Silent Night. Recent engagements for Mr. Albertson include the role of Masetto in Mozart’s Don Giovanni and  productions of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro and The Magic Flute, Poulenc’s Dialogues des carmélites, Lehar’s The Merry Widow, and two productions of Massenet’s Manon, all with the Metropolitan Opera; with Houston Grand Opera, he performed the role of Sacristan in Puccini’s Tosca and Mr. Rodriguez in Hanlon’s Past the Checkpoints with HGOco; with Atlanta Opera, the Sergeant of Police in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance; a Dallas Opera début as Zuniga in Bizet’s Carmen; a Fort Worth Opera début singing Bartolo in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville and Lyndon B. Johnson in the workshop of David T. Little’s opera JFK; a role début as the title role of Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd with Syracuse Opera; the role of Rucker Lattimore in Floyd’s Cold Sassy Tree with Sugar Creek Opera Festival; and the roles of the Prison Warden in Heggie’s Dead Man Walking, Hobson in Britten’s Peter Grimes, and the Duke in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, all with Des Moines Metro Opera.

Upcoming performances include a role début of Sharpless in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly at Northern Lights Music Festival; a house début at Lyric Opera of Chicago for their production of Wagner’s Das Rheingold; and role and house débuts as Donner in Das Rheingold with the Minnesota Opera, in their first production of the opera, and DeGuiche in DiChiera’s Cyrano with Michigan Opera Theatre.

Mr. Albertson won Second Place in The Gerda Lissner Foundation International Vocal Competition, was a Finalist in the George London Foundation Competition, a Finalist in the Marcello Giordani Competition, a Finalist in the Liederkranz Competition, and a National Semi-Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.  He holds a Master of Music degree from DePaul University where he studied with world renowned mezzo-soprano Susanne Mentzer, and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Northern Iowa where he studied with David Smalley.  He is currently in the studio of Dr. Steven King.
