Once patronized mainly by royalty, opera today is enjoyed by people from all walks of life. There is no “dress code” at Opera San José. People tend to dress more formally on opening night, but this is optional.

Feel free to dress up for a special night out, dress down for comfort, or find your own happy medium. When it comes to the opera, almost anything but the most casual wear is considered appropriate. One request: Please keep perfume and cologne to a minimum. Many patrons are sensitive to the use of these and other scents.

Casual attire at the opera is fine too!
