2006 – 2010

Performances for DANIEL CILLI in the 2017-18 season included the roles of Cervantes/Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha with Cinnabar Theater and the Cellist in Death with Interruptions for the Left Coast Chamber Ensemble of San Francisco. In June 2017, he appeared as Silvio (Pagliacci) with Cinnabar Theater. On the concert stage, Mr. Cilli was a featured soloist in Faure’s Requiem in Berkeley in April 2017, and appeared in West Edge Opera’s Snapshot 2017 Program 2 in February 2017. In January of that year, he was the soloist in Festinger’s Careless Love  with the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players.

Other engagements during the 2016-17 season included his company debut with San Francisco Opera as Dancairo in Bizet’s Carmen in July, 2016. Other  performances include the Thames Captain in the American premiere of Heart of Darkness by Tarik O’Regan at Opera Parallèle, Drugz Bunny in Oakland Opera’s collaboration with HOODSLAM! of Weill’s Mahagonny, Harlekin in Ariadne auf Naxos with Festival Opera, the role of The Cellist in world premiere performances of Death with Interruptions by Kurt Rhode with Left Coast Chamber Ensemble, Le Directeur in Les mamelles de Tirésias also with Opera Parallèle, and Inspector Javert in Les miserables at Utah Festival. He also performed new works like Perla’s River of Light at Festival Opera, Crumb’s Ghosts of Alhambra with the Left Coast Chamber Ensemble.

2014-15 engagements for Mr. Cilli included a return to OSJ where he appeared as Marullo in Rigoletto, and then reprised the role for Opera Santa Barbara’s same production in November of 2014.  Other  engagements included the roles of Dandini (La Cenerentola) for Livermore Valley Opera and Neil Hardingham (Oxford Companions) at Stanford University’s Bing Hall.

Roles performed in 2013-14 included Marco (Gianni Schicchi) and Captain Corcoran (HMS Pinafore) for Music in the Mountains, and the title role in Gesualdo, Prince of Madness, in a premiere reading with Opera Parallèle of San Francisco. On the concert stage, he appeared as soloist in Faure’s Requiem with the Louisiana Philharmonic; for the Avedis Chamber Ensemble, he performed as soloist in Ravel’s Chansons madécasses.

Performances during the 2011-12 season included Bobby in Mahagonny Songspiel for West Edge Opera, Escamillo (Carmen) for Townsend Opera Players, and the title role in West Bay Opera’s production of Don Giovanni. In February of 2011, Mr. Cilli appeared on short notice in the role of Papageno for a semi-staged production of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Marin Alsop.

While a member of the resident company, Mr. Cilli appeared as Lescaut (Manon), Dandini (La Cenerentola), Count Almaviva (The Marriage of Figaro,) the title role of Eugene Onegin, Belcore (The Elixir of Love), Guglielmo (Così fan tutte) and Escamillo (Carmen). Other OSJ roles performed include Enrico (Lucia di Lammermoor), Albert (Werther), Marullo (Rigoletto), Papageno (The Magic Flute), Mercutio (Roméo et Juliette), Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Baron Douphol (La traviata), and Sharpless (Madama Butterfly). During the 2010 – 2011 season, Mr. Cilli returned to perform the role of Schaunard in La bohème.

Other roles performed recently include Demetrius (Midsummer’s Night Dream) with Des Moines Metro Opera, Painter Monk (Le Jongleur de Notre Dame) at Central City Opera, Bion/Geezer 1 (Lysistrata) world premiere at Houston Grand Opera, Jake Wallace (La Fanciulla del West) with Utah Opera, Tarquinius (The Rape of Lucretia) at San Francisco Lyric Opera, Lescaut (Manon Lescaut) with West Bay Opera, Schaunard (La bohème) with Amarillo Opera.

Mr. Cilli has also performed in recitals and concerts at Old First Church in San Francisco, the Aspen Music Festival, the San Juan Symphony, Utah Symphony & Opera, Lawrence University, South Valley Symphony and the Tanglewood Music Center. His special interest in art song and Lieder has lead Mr. Cilli to Baden bei Wien Austria as a performing participant at the Franz Schubert Institute and to Robert Schumann’s birthplace of Zwickau to take part in the International Robert Schumann Competition.

Mr. Cilli has participated in training programs at the Aspen Opera Theatre Center, Houston Grand Opera Studio, Central City Opera, Utah Symphony & Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera and the Tanglewood Music Center. He received a Master of Music Degree from the New England Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Music Degree from Stetson University.
