Chorus/Cover and Small Roles: 2019-20 Season

Opera San José will hold auditions on May 11,12 and 18th for experienced, classically trained singers who are seeking to be cast in Opera San José’s 2019-2020 season. Positions for all voice types in the chorus as well as cover assignments and smaller featured roles will be available.

Opera San José’s rehearsals for the 2019-2020 season begin on August 5, 2019 and conclude with the final production at the beginning of May 2020. Visit for more information:

Saturday, May 11 (12-4pm) – Opera San José, 2149 Paragon Drive, San Jose, CA

Sunday, May 12 (1-5pm) – Opera San José, 2149 Paragon Drive, San Jose, CA

Saturday, May 18 (12-4pm)   San Francisco Conservatory of Music, 50 Oak Street, San Francisco, CA


– 4 arias, contrasting in style and language, sung in the original key and language

– The ability to sight-read and learn music quickly; you may be asked to sight read

– Auditions will be in increments of 7 minutes: please plan your repertoire selections accordingly

– Opera San José will provide an accompanist: please bring legible copies of all repertoire in their original keys to provide to pianist. You are also welcome to bring your own accompanist. No additional visitors are permitted to the audition site.
