Kim A. Tolman
Set Designer
Award-winning designer Kim A.
Tolman serves as set
designer for the company's production of La bohème during the 2010 -
2011 season.
Since moving to the Bay Area from Cologne, Germany
in 2001, where she did scenic design for opera and theatre, Ms. Tolman has worked on over 150 productions in the
United States. Her set designs include A
Midsummer Night’s Dream for
CenterREP, Cabaret for
SF Playhouse, San Francisco Lyric Opera's Tales
of Hoffman at the
Palace of the Legion of Honor, Peter
Pan for Berkeley Playhouse and Shakespeare's Richard
III at San
Francisco's Project Artaud Theater.
Other recent projects include
Broadway veteran Stepp Stewart's Show
N Tell (a new
musical that debuted at Washington, DC's Duke Ellington Theatre
in March 2010), Man
Of La Mancha for
Napa Valley College, and art deco-inspired
design elements for
Kraftwerk erected in 2010 near Zurich, Switzerland. She also
contributed a case study to Créez avec SketchUp: 16 projets, de
l'architecture au théâtre, a book about professionals who use
SketchUp software published in France in fall 2009. Upcoming
projects include Dracula for
CenterREP and Little
Women for the
Morrisson Theatre. Kim is a member of United Scenic Artists
Local USA 829, I.A.T.S.E.
