Buffy Baggott returns to OSJ during the 2014-15 season, appearing as Perfetta in the world premiere of Where Angels Fear to Tread. Ms. Baggott made her company debut with OSJ during the 2013-14 season, performing the roles of Meg Page (Falstaff) and Gertrud (Hansel and Gretel). Career highlights for Ms. Baggott include performances at Lyric Opera Chicago in the title role of Carmen, the Schoolboy (Lulu), Stephano (Roméo et Juliette), Dryade (Ariadne auf Naxos), Flora (La traviata), and both the Second and Third Lady (The Magic Flute). Other companies for which Ms. Baggott has performed the title role in Carmen – her signature role – include Arizona Opera, Pamiro Opera, France’s Festival Lyrique de Belle lle en Mer, Festival Opera, Berkeley West Edge, and the Spokane and Manitoba opera companies.
Recent and upcoming performances include The Komponist (Ariadne auf Naxos), and Miss Jessel (Turn of the Screw) for Berkeley West Edge Opera, Zita (Gianni Schicchi) and Berta (The Barber of Seville) for Sacramento Opera, and the 2nd Secretary (Nixon in China) for San Francisco Opera. With the Stockton Symphony, she will be the alto soloist in a performance of Verdi’s Requiem.
Ms. Baggott studied vocal performance at UCLA and SFSU, and went on to complete two apprenticeships with the Santa Fe Opera. She is an alumnus of Lyric Opera Chicago’s prestigious Ryan Opera Center.
