Elizabeth Poindexter

Costume Designer

During the 2012-13 season, Elizabeth Poindexter’s costume designs are revived for the productions of Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers, Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi. For the production of Il trovatore, Ms. Poindexter creates new designs. Previously, her designs were featured in last season’s La traviata,  and the 2010-11 productions of Anna Karenina and Tosca. Other costume design projects for the company include La Cenerentola, La rondine, Eugene Onegin, Carmen, La traviata, The Crucible, Tosca, Falstaff, Cenerentola, Faust, Eugene Onegin, Les Pêcheurs de perles, L’elisir d’amore, Gianni Schicci, Suour Angelica, Tartuffe, Vanessa, Hotel Eden, and West of Washington Square.

Other costume design credits include work for American Musical Theatre of San Jose, California Shakespeare Festival, San Jose Repertory Theatre, Western Stage Company (Salinas, CA), The Alley Theatre (Houston, TX) and The José Limon Dance Company (New York, NY).

Ms. Poindexter was a member of the design faculty of the Televison, Radio , Film and Theatre Department of San José State University for thirty years. Her university design credits number over 150 productions including dance (modern and jazz), video and film, musical theatre, opera, as well as classic theatre repertory. She is an active member of the Costume Commission of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology and a founding member of the Bay Area Costumers’ Alliance.
