July 8 – 13, 2014

Cathedral of St. FrancisTuesday, July 8: San Jose – Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico
Morning departure from San Jose Airport to Albuquerque. Private coach transfer from the airport to the first-class Inn of the Governors located in the center of Santa Fe. Tonight, a welcome reception and dinner.

Wednesday, July 9: Santa Fe
At breakfast, Larry will provide a lively talk on tonight’s opera. Depart for a backstage tour of the opera house followed by a visit to the Shidoni Foundry and Galleries in Tesuque village to enjoy its world-famous outdoor sculpture garden. Afternoon is at your leisure. Choose one of Santa Fe’s many outstanding restaurants tonight, as dinner is not included. This evening we will attend a performance of Don Pasquale by Gaetano Donizetti.

Thursday, July 10: Santa Fe
After breakfast, we will walk to the Georgia O’Keeffe museum where a docent will give us a private tour. At noon, we’ll attend a performance of the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival. The afternoon is free to do as you please. Your museum pass admits you to the Museum of Fine Arts, Governor’s Palace, the International Folk Art Museum and the Spanish Colonial Art Museum. Don’t miss the open-air van sightseeing tour of Santa Fe and its environs. There are also many galleries and shops you can peruse near the hotel. Optional trips may be arranged to Bandolier National Park, or Georgia O’Keeffe’s home in Abiquiu. Tonight we will dine together and then attend a musical or dance performance.

Friday, July 11: Santa Fe
Breakfast with Larry with a talk about tonight’s opera. A half-day New Mexican Sampler tour is scheduled to provide more insight about Santa Fe culture. Dinner on your own. This evening we attend a performance of Carmen by Georges Bizet.

Saturday, July 12: Santa Fe
At breakfast, Larry will speak about this evening’s opera. The whole day is left free for you to visit museums and galleries, shop or relax by the hotel swimming pool. Then enjoy a special pre-performance dinner at an outstanding Santa Fe restaurant. This evening’s opera is Fidelio by Ludwig van Beethoven.

Sunday, July 13: Santa Fe-Albuquerque-San Jose
Free time until our departure by private motor coach to the Albuquerque airport for your flight to San Jose.
