Robert NormanRobert Norman returns during the 2013-14 season as Dr. Caius (Falstaff) and Goro (Madama Butterfly). Mr. Norman made his company debut during the 2012-13 season, appearing as Gherardo in Gianni Schicchi. He has performed nationally with Opera Santa Barbara, Rimrock Opera, Opera Las Vegas, OperaWorks, and at the Bear Valley Music Festival. Upcoming performances will feature Mr. Norman as Remendado (Carmen) with Opera San Luis Obispo and a tour to Japan with the famed Roger Wagner Chorale.

Favorite roles include Goro (Madama Butterfly), Giles Corey (The Crucible), Monostatos (The Magic Flute), Gastone (La traviata), Basilio (The Marriage of Figaro), Spoletta (Tosca), and the title role in Albert Herring. As a concert soloist, he has performed Mozart’s Requiem, Händel’s Messiah, Bach’s St. John Passion, Magnificat, and Christmas Oratorio, Britten’s Cantata Misericordium, and Haydn’s Missa in Tempore Belli. Other roles performed recently include Beadle Bamford in Sweeney Todd, El Remendado in Carmen and a debut in the Los Angeles Opera Community and Outreach’s production of The Magic Dream as Mr. Mozart/Manny.

He received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from CSU Northridge where he performed several roles including the Witch in Hänsel und Gretel and Sam Kaplan in Street Scene. Mr. Norman was a member of the Opera Santa Barbara Young Artist Program, where he performed as Dr. Caius in Falstaff and Benvolio in Roméo et Juliette. In 2011, Mr. Norman was a Los Angeles District winner at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
