Joseph Marcheso returns during the 2013-14 season to conduct performances of Hansel and Gretel, and to serve as Assistant Conductor of Madama Butterfly. Most recently, Mr. Marcheso conducted OSJ’s productions of La traviata and Faust during the 2012-13 season.
Recent conducting engagements for Mr. Marcheso include performances of the West Coast premiere of John Adams’ Nixon in China, the San Francisco premiere of Jake Heggie’s Moby-Dick, and the world premiere of Mark Adamo’s The Gospel of Mary Magdalene for San Francisco Opera. He returns in 2013 to SFO for the world premiere of Tobias Picker’s Dolores Claiborne as well as a new production of The Flying Dutchman. He has also conducted Hailstork’s Joshua’s Boots for the young artists at Opera Theater of St. Louis as well as productions for Festival Opera. Upcoming engagements include conducting performances of Washington National Opera’s Manon Lescaut.
