Mete Tasin

Mete Tasin returns during the 2012-13 season as Ruiz in OSJ’s production of Il trovatore. Mr. Tasin made his company debut as Gastone last season in La traviata. Mr. Tasin has sung leading roles since his arrival in the United States, including Guillot in Massenet’s Manon, Romeo and Tybalt in Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette with New York Lyric Opera Theatre, appearing at Carnegie Hall with the company as a resident artist. With Sieur DuLuth Summer Festival in Minnesota, he sang the role of Don Jose in Bizet’s Carmen and Arturo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor. Mr. Tasin recently moved to the Bay Area to appear with Verismo Opera as Don Jose in Carmen.

In his native Turkey, Mr. Tasin appeared at the Istanbul State Theater as Mecnun in Tura’s Leyla ile Mecnun and sang Don Jose in Carmen at the Istanbul Opera House. He also sang the roles of Asker in Hajibeyof’s Arsin Mal Alan at the Izmir State Theater. He has sung tenor solos at the Ahmet Adnan Saygun Concert Hall, and with the Izmir Symphony Orchestra and Ankara State Chorus. He has been heard on Turkish radio and television and appeared in many concerts.

Mr. Tasin was born in Wurzburg, Germany and raised in Turkey. He did his undergraduate studies at Dokuz Eylul University State Conservatory and Istanbul University State Conservatory. He completed his Master studies at Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music.
