Elizabeth Poindexter

Costume Designer

Elizabeth Poindexter serves as costume designer for Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel during the 2013-14 season. Last season, Ms. Poindexter designed costumes for Il trovatore, while her costumes were revived for the productions of Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers, Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi. Other OSJ productions in which her work has been featured include La traviata, Anna Karenina, Tosca, La Cenerentola, La rondine, Eugene Onegin, Carmen, The Crucible, Tosca, Falstaff, Cenerentola, Faust,  L’elisir d’amore, Tartuffe, Vanessa, Hotel Eden, and West of Washington Square.

Costume design credits for other companies include work for American Musical Theatre of San Jose, California Shakespeare Festival, San Jose Repertory Theatre, Western Stage Company (Salinas, CA), The Alley Theatre (Houston, TX) and The José Limon Dance Company (New York, NY).

Ms. Poindexter was a member of the design faculty of the Televison, Radio , Film and Theatre Department of San José State University for thirty years. Her university design credits number over 150 productions including dance (modern and jazz), video and film, musical theatre, opera, as well as classic theatre repertory. She is an active member of the Costume Commission of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology and a founding member of the Bay Area Costumers’ Alliance.
