Daniel Scofield makes his company debut during the 2013-14 season, appearing as Masetto in Don Giovanni. Mr. Scofield has performed with Seattle Opera, Indianapolis Opera, Opera Cleveland, Brevard Music Center, Central City Opera, Wolf Trap Opera and Augusta Opera. Upcoming performances include the role of Danilo in Opera Columbus’ Opera on the Edge production of The Merry Widow in Fall of 2013.
In the 2012-13 season, Mr. Scofield performed Sharpless (Madama Butterfly) with the Loon Opera, Falke (Die Fledermaus) with Knoxville Opera, Joseph de Roucher in Dead Man Walking for Opera Fayetteville, Sonora (Fanciulla del West) for Knoxville Opera, and Tonio (Pagliacci) in his debut with Opera Idaho. Later in the spring, he sang first Count Almaviva (The Marriage of Figaro) with the Pacific Opera Project in Los Angeles.
Mr. Scofield is winner of several prizes, including the District and Regional Encouragement Awards from the Metropolitan Opera Council, and the Albert Rees Davis Scholarship from the Cleveland Singers Club. He was also a semi-finalist in the Palm Beach Opera Competition.
He has studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music and Indiana University, and has been a member of both Seattle Opera and Arizona’s Opera’s artist in residence programs.
