Brian James Myer
Brian James Myer makes his company debut as Masetto in Don Giovanni during the 2013-14 season. Mr. Myer’s operatic credits include Masetto (Don Giovanni) with Opera Las Vegas, Il Conte Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro) with the International Lyric Academy in Rome and Viterbo, Bob (The Old Maid and the Thief) with the Sun City Summerlin Starbright Theater, and Dapertutto and Dr. Miracle (Les Contes d’Hoffmann) with the Franco-American Vocal Academy. Upcoming performances include his Canadian debut as Le Dancaïre with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra in 2014.
In addition to performing in opera, Mr. Myer has also worked extensively in concert and recital repertoire. Notable performances include Mozart’s Requiem with the Old Stone Church, Rutter’s Mass of the Children with the Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society, Milhaud’s Cantate de Psaumes with the CIM Chamber Orchestra, Bach’s Weinachts-Oratorium and Magnificat with the UNLV Symphony Orchestra, and fundraising events with Opera Las Vegas.
Awards and achievements consist of first place prizes in the National Association of Teachers of Singing competitions in both Nevada and Ohio. He was also a regional finalist in the NATS Artist Award (Cal-Western Region) and a semifinalist in the American Institute of Musical Studies Meistersinger competition.
Mr. Myer graduated magna cum laude from the University of Nevada, holding a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Music Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Romance Languages. He is now pursuing a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music.
