“Tricia Anderson, a native San Franciscan, has been a member of the Opera San José Board of Trustees since 1998, serving on several Board committees during her tenure. Currently she is Trustee-at-Large and she works on Planned Giving and Legacy. “We want this opera company to be around for generations, to provide opportunity for young singers,” she said. “This is a ‘young’ valley, with many first generation entrepreneurs. But as we mature we want more in life than just pop music. Every era has produced forgettable music. Only the good stuff survives.” More…

“Fred Heiman, current Opera San José Board of Trustees member, reminisced: “I grew up in New York with jazz and classical music, playing the trumpet professionally, but had no exposure to the opera until about 10 years ago, when a good friend took my wife Peggy and I to Opera San José. I have been a fan of the art form ever since, attending about 15 performances each year.” More…

Frank Fiscalini

“Frank Fiscalini, a former San Jose City Councilman and Vice-Mayor, has been involved with Opera San José since it began as the Opera Workshop in 1977. “At the time Irene Dalis returned to San Jose from New York and founded the Opera Workshop at San Jose State,” Frank commented, “I was Superintendent of the Eastside Union High School District and we had just built Independence High, with a 500 seat theater. Irene called and asked about the theater, as the Opera Workshop had no proper place to perform. We arranged for the Workshop to perform in our theater.” More…

Opera San José Board member, Dr. Andrea Neves, was born in Merced County. She has taught at Stanford, where she had earned her doctorate, and is a retired Professor of Education from Sonoma State University. She is an award winning scholar, a philanthropist, a world traveler, and a passionate opera lover. “I have loved opera since I was a child,” she said, “and I bought my first opera recording when I was seven years old. It was Rigoletto.” More…

Opera San Jose Board Secretary Barton Evans was the retired Executive Vice-
President and Chief Operating Officer for Dionex Corporation. He was also a trustee
for Claremont McKenna College and supported both public and private education
through his philanthropy. He discovered opera when he began dating Andrea
Neves in 1981. More…
