San José, who will be providing lectures with insights on The
Marriage of Figaro, Billy Budd and Falstaff at
Santa Fe Opera this
summer, July 27 - August 1, 2008. Enjoy Santa Fe's spectacular opera

The tour with Mr. Hancock

San Jose - Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico:
Morning departure from San Jose Airport to Albuquerque. Private coach
transfer from the airport to the first class St. Francis Hotel located
in the center of Santa Fe. Welcome reception and dinner at the hotel.
Monday, July 28, 2008
Breakfast at the hotel; lecture by Mr. Hancock on the evening's
opera performance, The Marriage of Figaro. Transfer to the Santa
Fe Opera for an interesting backstage tour of the opera house. The tour
provides an intimate view of what goes on behind the scenes. This will
be followed by a visit to the village Tesuque to the Shidoni, an outdoor
sculpture garden and foundry. Dinner in Santa Fe at restaurant of your
choice. Opera performance at 8:30 p.m.

This morning after breakfast and Mr. Hancock's interesting lecture
on tonight's opera, we will take a short walk to the Georgia O'Keeffe
Museum. The afternoon is free to do as you please. Your museum pass
permits you to visit the Museum of Fine Arts and Governor's
Palace, which are very close to the hotel. The other museums, the
International Folk Art Museum, the Wheelwright, and the Spanish Colonial
Art Museum may be reached by a city bus ($1.00 round trip fare).
Dinner on your own. Tonight's opera is Giuseppe Verdi's
Falstaff.

After breakfast, a four-hour New Mexico Sampler trip is scheduled.
We will visit Chimayó (the Lourdes of the West), a family owned weaving
studio, and an Indian reservation. You are free in the afternoon to take
the hour and fifteen-minute tour in the open air "Road Runner" bus as it
provides an opportunity to see Santa Fe and its environs. Tonight,
dinner and a flamenco performance by the talented Maria Benitez's troupe
is part of
the tour.

In the morning at breakfast, Mr. Hancock will give us an opportunity
to learn about tonight's opera, Billy Budd. The remainder of the
day is free to pursue your individual interests. You may wish to visit
Canyon Road to see the various galleries, shops and restaurants.
Optional trips will be offered to the Bandelier home or to the home of
Alan Houser, a Santa Fe sculptor. A special dinner this evening at an
outstanding Santa Fe restaurant is scheduled before the performance of
Billy Budd.
August 1, 2008: Santa
Fe - Albuquerque - San José
Free time until our midday departure by private motor coach to the
Albuquerque airport for your flight home. Your flight departs in the
afternoon with arrival in San José in the early evening. Welcome home!
