Opera San José Receives
Four-Star Rating
Opera San José recently was notified by Charity
Navigator, America's largest independent evaluator of charities, that it had
been given a four-star rating.
Receiving four out of a
possible four stars indicates that OSJ excels, as compared to other
charities in America, in successfully managing the finances of its
organization in an efficient and effective manner. If you are considering
making a tax deductible donation to your favorite charity before the end of
2005, please consider making a donation to Opera San José. To view

Updates on Former OSJ Artists
Across the nation and abroad, former principal artists of OSJ's resident
company continue to secure leading roles in opera companies. As
Julie Makerov
(2001 - 2003) makes her debut at
Seattle Opera as Roselinde in January of 2006,
Brian Leerhuber (1997 - 1999) appears as Dr. Malatesta in Houston Grand Opera's production of Don Pasquale.

Hamburg Staats Oper, one of the most prestigious companies in the
world, will feature
Nmon Ford (1996 - 1997) as Demetrius in Britten's A
Midsummer Night's Dream in Spring 2006. Mr. Ford has also been engaged
to sing the title role in Don Giovanni at the Spoleto Festival in
May/June, and then returns to Hamburg to sing the title role in Britten's
Billy Budd.
Lori
Phillips (1995 - 1996) is featured on a newly released recording of
Beethoven's Missa Solemnis with the Nashville Symphony on the Naxos
label. Ms. Phillips will soon return to Vancouver Opera in the title role of
Ariadne auf Naxos by Richard Strauss. Other engagements during the
2005 - 2006 season include the
title role in Madama Butterfly with Opera Omaha, the Ice Princess
(Rusalka) with the Forth Worth Symphony, and the title role in
Turandot with Nashville and Indianapolis Opera companies.
Barbara
Divis (1996 - 2000) will sing Georgetta (Il tabarro), the
title role in Suor Angelica, and Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi)
with Hawaii Opera Theatre in February of 2006. Ms. Divis then appears in San
Diego Opera's production of Carmen as Michaela in April of
2006.
