During the 2008 - 2009 season, Michael Mendelsohn returns to the company
to perform the role of Triquet in Eugene Onegin. Previously, Mr.
Mendelsohn appeared as Arturo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Benvolio (Romèo et Juliette) and Goro (Madama Butterfly).
Other roles recently performed include Sellem (The Rakes Progress), Normanno (Lucia di Lammermoor), Monostatos (Die Zauberflöte)
and Peter Quint (The Turn of the Screw.), all with West Bay
Opera.
Mr. Mendelsohn has performed the role of
Alfred (Die Fledermaus) with North Bay Opera, Alfredo (La
traviata) with Cinnabar Theater, and the Devil in Stravinsky's
The Soldier's Tale, and Pedrillo (The Abduction from the
Seraglio) with Pocket Opera. For Livermore Valley Opera, he appeared
as Spalanzani (The Tales of Hoffman) and Don Basilio (Le nozze
di Figaro).
On the concert stage, Mr. Mendelsoh's
repertoire includes performances of Monteverdi's Vespers,
Mozart's Requiem, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Rossini's
Petite Messe Solonelle, Beethoven's Mass in C Major, Bach's
Magnificat, to name just a few. For the San Francisco Symphony and
Chorus, he appeared as soloist in Orff's Carmina Burana and
Respighi's Laud to the Nativity.
