| During
the 2007 - 2008 season, Isaac Hurtado will perform the roles of
Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), the title role in Werther,
the Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto), and Tamino (The Magic
Flute.) Mr. Hurtado debuted as a member of Opera San José's
resident company last season, performing the roles of Roméo (Roméo et Juliette), Alfredo (La traviata)
and Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly). On the concert stage,
Mr. Hurtado will make his debut with the Santa Rosa Symphony under
maestro Bruno Ferrandis in 2008.

Recent
performances for Mr. Hurtado include the title role in Candide
with Festival Opera in 2005 for which his performance received
critical acclaim. Mr. Hurtado had previously debuted with the company
in 2004 as
Roméo in Gounod’s
Roméo et
Juliette.
Prior
to his Festival Opera debut, Mr. Hurtado was heard as an apprentice
artist with
Central City
Opera where
he performed the role of Roger Doremus in a rare production of Lee
Hoiby’s
Summer
and Smoke
(later featured
across the country on NPR’s
World of
Opera),
and covered the role of Lysander in Britten’s
A
Midsummer
Night’s
Dream. For
Opera North, Mr. Hurtado sang the roles of Brighella (Ariadne
auf Naxos)
and
Gonsalve in L’heure Espagnole.
For two seasons he was an apprentice artist with
Utah Festival
Opera, performing roles in Gianni Schicchi and Les Contes
d’Hoffmann.
Mr. Hurtado has also performed with
Opera Circle of
Cleveland,
Martinez Opera,
Cincinnati
Opera,
and
Opera Theatre
of Lucca,
Italy.
Selected honors for Mr. Hurtado include winning the 2003
Hannah Beaulieu
Career Development Award
at Florida State
University, and being named a 2003 national finalist
in
the
Heinz-Rehfuss
Singing Actor Competition.
He received his musical training at
Florida State University under the tutelage of Stanford Olsen, at the
Cincinnati
College-Conservatory of Music, and Brigham Young University.
