Evan Brummel performs the roles of Zurga (The Pearl Fishers), Dr. Falke (Die Fledermaus), Count di Luna (Il trovatore), and the title role in Gianni Schicchi during his second year as a member of the resident ensemble. Mr. Brummel made his debut as a principal artist during the 2011-2012 season, appearing in the roles of Tonio (Pagliacci), Giorgio Germont (La traviata) and Valentin (Faust). Other roles performed recently by Mr. Brummel include Rodrigo (Don Carlo) with Opera in the Heights, and several roles with Sarasota Opera, including Silvio (Pagliacci), Father (Hansel and Gretel), and Baron Douphol (La traviata). During the summer of 2011, Mr. Brummel joins Santa Fe Opera as an Apprentice Artist, appearing as the Sergeant in La bohème and the Doctor in The Last Savage.
On the concert stage, he has been a featured soloist with the Idaho Civic Symphony, performing in Brahm’s Requiem and Orff’s Carmina Burana.Awards received include First Place – Career Division, in the NATS-LA Young Artist auditions, and an Encouragement Award in the Met Opera National Council Auditions. Most recently, Mr. Brummel was named a Finalist in the 2011 Irene Dalis Vocal Competition.Mr. Brummel has studied at Chapman University, College of the Desert and The Juilliard School.
