FINAL EVENING DRESS REHEARSALS
Students and their teachers and/or parents are invited to attend final evening dress rehearsals for the following mainstage operas during the 2015-16 season:
- Tosca (G. Puccini): Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015 @ 7:30 p.m.
- The Marriage of Figaro (W.A. Mozart): Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015 @ 7:30 p.m.
- Carmen (G. Bizet): Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016 @ 7:30 p.m.
- A Streetcar Named Desire (A. Previn): Thursday, April 14, 2016 @ 7:30 p.m.
To request seats for final evening dress rehearsals please fill out this online form after July 1, 2015, or call Outreach Coordinator Lettie Smith at (408) 437-4464. Attendance at evening dress rehearsals are free to students and their teachers/chaperones that accompany them. To ensure that the maximum number of seats are available for students, please keep the number of adult chaperones to a minimum.
Final evening dress rehearsals, which run approximately 3 hours, take place at the California Theatre located at 345 S. First Street in downtown San Jose. Tosca and The Marriage of Figaro will be sung in Italian with English supertitles; Carmen will be sung in French with English supertitles; A Streetcar Named Desire will be sung in English with English supertitles. Tosca, The Marriage of Figaro and Carmen are recommended for students 6th grade and older; due to mature subject matter including sexual content, A Streetcar Named Desire is restricted to high school students only. Study guides are sent in advance to prepare students for the performance. For a synopsis of each work, click on each opera title.
