Lawrence Ealy returns to Opera San José to appear as the Priest/Armored
Man 2 in The Magic Flute. Previously known to OSJ audiences for
the tenor roles he performed with the company during the 70s and 80s,
Mr. Ealy's previous OSJ credits include Alfredo (Die Fledermaus),
Rodolfo (La bohème),
Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) Kaspar (Amahl and the Night
Visitors), Don Alfonso (Così
fan tutte), and Beto and Dr. Pinoloccio (Gianni Schicchi).
Other companies performed with include Fremont Opera, West Bay Opera,
Pomona Valley Light Opera, Citrus Valley Theater and El Camino Opera. On
the concert stage, Mr. Ealy has been a featured soloist with Masterworks
Chorale in their concert performances of Pagliacci, Otello and
La bohème.For the past twelve
years, Mr. Ealy appeared in San Francisco, Hamburg, Copenhagen and
Stuttgart productions of Phantom of the Opera in which he sang a
variety of roles.
Awards and accolades include first prize
in the Mozart International Opera Competition (Salzburg, Austria), the
Italian-American Opera Competition (San Francisco) and Friends of Opera
Competition (San Francisco). Mr. Ealy received his musical training at
San Jose State University, the Mozarteum (Salzburg, Austria) and
American Conservatory Theatre (San Francisco).
