In his third season as a
principal artist of the resident company, Daniel Cilli will appear in
the title role of Eugene Onegin, Belcore (The Elixir of
Love), Guglielmo (Così
fan tutte) and Escamillo
(Carmen). During the 2007 - 2008 season, Mr. Cilli appeared as Enrico (Lucia di Lammermoor), Albert (Werther),
Marullo (Rigoletto), and Papageno (The Magic Flute). Mr. Cilli made his company debut as a member of Opera San José's resident
company during the 2006 - 2007 season, performing the
roles of Mercutio (Roméo et Juliette), Figaro (Il barbiere
di Siviglia), Baron Douphol (La traviata), and Sharpless
(Madama Butterfly).
Mr. Cilli recently
appeared as Demetrius (Midsummer's Night Dream) with the Des
Moines Metro Opera Company during the summer of 2007. Other highlight roles include Tarquinius (The Rape of Lucretia) for San
Francisco Lyric Opera, Lescaut (Manon Lescaut) with West
Bay Opera, Schaunard (La bohème) with Amarillo Opera, Yamadori (Madama
Butterfly) with Houston Grand Opera, Painter Monk (Le Jongleur
de Notre Dame) with Central City Opera, and Jake Wallace (La
Fanciulla del West) with Utah Opera. Mr. Cilli has also
performed in recital at Old First Church in San Francisco, and in
concert with the San Juan Symphony, Utah Symphony & Opera and
the Tanglewood Music Center.
Mr. Cilli has
participated in training programs at the Aspen Opera Theatre Center,
Houston Grand Opera, Central City Opera, Utah Symphony & Opera, Des
Moines Metro Opera and the Tanglewood Music Center. He received his
Bachelor of Music from Stetson University and his Masters Degree from
the New England Conservatory of Music.
