Daniel Cilli,
Baritone

During the 2009 -
2010 season, fourth-year resident artist Daniel Cilli appears as
Lescaut (Manon), Dandini (La Cenerentola), and Count
Almaviva (The Marriage of Figaro.) Last season, Mr. Cilli
appeared in the title role of Eugene Onegin, Belcore (The
Elixir of Love), Guglielmo (Così fan tutte) and Escamillo
(Carmen). Other OSJ roles performed include Enrico (Lucia di
Lammermoor), Albert (Werther), Marullo (Rigoletto),
Papageno (The Magic Flute), Mercutio (Roméo et Juliette),
Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Baron Douphol (La traviata),
and Sharpless (Madama Butterfly).
Other highlight roles include Demetrius (Midsummer's Night Dream)
with Des Moines Metro Opera, Painter Monk (Le Jongleur de Notre
Dame) at Central City Opera, Bion/Geezer 1 (Lysistrata)
world premiere at Houston Grand Opera, Jake Wallace (La Fanciulla
del West) with Utah Opera, Tarquinius (The Rape of Lucretia)
at San Francisco Lyric Opera, Lescaut (Manon Lescaut) with West
Bay Opera, Schaunard (La bohème) with Amarillo Opera.
Mr. Cilli has also performed in recitals and
concerts at Old First Church in San Francisco, the Aspen Music
Festival, the San Juan Symphony, Utah Symphony & Opera, Lawrence
University, South Valley Symphony and the Tanglewood Music Center. His
special interest in art song and Lieder has lead Mr. Cilli to Baden
bei Wien Austria as a performing participant at the Franz Schubert
Institute and to Robert Schumann's birthplace of Zwickau to take part
in the International Robert Schumann Competition.
Mr. Cilli has participated in training programs
at the Aspen Opera Theatre Center, Houston Grand Opera Studio, Central
City Opera, Utah Symphony & Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera and the
Tanglewood Music Center. He received a Master of Music Degree from the
New England Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Music Degree from
Stetson University.
