Anita Bigger
makes her company debut with Opera San José as The First Lady in
The Magic Flute. Ms. Bigger has performed with Opera Theatre of
St. Louis, Knoxville Opera, and toured with Appalachian Opera. She has
performed many roles including Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi), the
Female Chorus in The Rape of Lucretia, The Governess (The
Turn of the Screw) as well as Dorabella (Così
fan tutte) and the title role in Carmen. She sang as
soprano soloist with Orchestra and Chorus of St. Louis in Poulenc’s
Gloria and was chosen to perform Berlioz Les Nuits D’ete
with the St. Louis Conservatory Orchestra. Leonard Slatkin awarded her
second place in the Saint Louis Orchestra Concerto Competition.
Ms. Bigger earned her
degrees in vocal performance from the University of Tennessee and The
St. Louis Conservatory of Music and was also a Regional Semi-Finalist
in the Mid South Region of The Metropolitan Opera National Council
Auditions.
