RAVIL ATLAS has performed a wide-ranging repertoire in opera, musical theater, operetta, and concert. His most recent success was in La fanciulla del west with Opera Holland Park in London during the 2005 - 2006 season.

During the 2003 - 2004 season Mr. Atlas returned to Opera San José to appear as Canio in Pagliacci. Abroad, he made his international debut in Guatemala as Alfredo in La traviata, the first staging of an opera in that country in nearly 70 years. Mr. Atlas also created the starring tenor role in the world premier of Un Racconto Fiorentino by Louis Gioia at Lincoln Center in New York. Other roles performed include Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Alfredo (La traviata), Rodolfo (La bohème), Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), and Manrico (Il trovatore), to name just a few.

On the concert stage, Mr. Atlas has sung with Kent Nagano and Berkeley Symphony in the title role of Stravinsky's Oedipus Rex and as Méfistofélès in Busoni's Doktor Faust. He has been featured as a soloist in the Verdi Requiem, most notably with William Hall Master Chorale in Los Angeles, as well as soloist in such works as Handel's Messiah, the Mozart Requiem, Dave Brubeck's To Hope: A Mass, (accompanied by the composer), and the title roles in Britten's St. Nicholas and Honegger's King David.

Mr. Atlas' musical theater credits include Jean Valjean in Les Miserables and Ubaldo Piangi in The Phantom of the Opera, both with national touring companies. He received critical acclaim for his portrayal of Padre Perez in Man of La Mancha with nationally recognized Paper Mill Playhouse.

Mr. Atlas during his second year in residence with Opera San José, sang four leading roles with the company as well as Don José (Carmen) for Tacoma Opera, and Manrico (Il trovatore) for Festival Opera (Walnut Creek). Mr. Atlas received a release from his 1993 - 1994 residency with Opera San José to accept a long-term contract to appear in a major role in the San Francisco production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera.
