During the 2012 – 2013 season, principal artist Silas Elash performs the roles of Nourabad (The Pearl Fishers), Frank (Die Fledermaus), and Ferrando (Il trovatore). Last season, Mr. Elash performed the Voice of Nettuno (Idomeneo), Dr. Grenville (La traviata) and Méphistophélès (Faust). Other roles performed for OSJ include Scarpia (Tosca), Bartolo (The Barber of Seville), Colline (La bohème), Count Des Grieux (Manon), Don Magnifico (La Cenerentola), Bartolo (The Marriage of Figaro), and Rambaldo (La rondine). Mr. Elash joined OSJ’s resident ensemble of principal artists during the 2008 – 2009 season, performing the roles of Gremin (Eugene Onegin), Dr. Dulcamara (The Elixir of Love), and Zuniga (Carmen). Other OSJ roles include Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Le Bailli (Werther), Count Monterrone (Rigoletto) and Sarastro (The Magic Flute). He made his company debut during the 2006 – 2007 season as the Duke of Verona (Roméo et Juliette) and the Registrar (Madama Butterfly).
Roles performed with other companies include Colline (La bohème), Escamillo (Carmen), and Alfio (Cavalleria Rusticana) with the Opera Institute of California. On the concert stage, Mr. Elash has performed for the Italian Society of Monterey, and has performed at the Silicon Valley Charity Ball. He regularly performs in concerts throughout the Bay Area and Southern California and makes regular appearances at the Jarvis Conservatory in Napa, California.Awards received include the Wagner Society Award at the Fourth Annual Irene Dalis Vocal Competition held in May 2010.
