Donna Olson, Mezzo-Soprano

2001 – 2003

Recent performances for DONNA OLSON included the roles of Marcellina (The Marriage of Figaro) with Sacramento Opera and Mother and Grandmother in Barab’s Little Red Riding Hood. For the 2010 Mendocino Music Festival, Ms. Olson returned to perform the role of Mercedes in Carmen. Other roles performed recently include Public Opinion in Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld with Donald Pippin’s Pocket Opera and Mary (The Flying Dutchman) with West Bay Opera.

Previous seasons saw Ms. Olson as Magdalena in Berkeley Opera’s Special Wagner Review of Die Meistersinger, Mrs. Peachum in Weill’s Three Penny Opera and Ulrica (Un ballo in maschera), both with West Bay Opera, and  Flora (La traviata) with Sacramento Opera.

On the concert stage, Ms. Olson performed alongside soprano Ruth Ann Swenson in celebration of Berkeley Opera’s 30th Anniversary in 2009.

In 2010, Ms. Olson was appointed Professor of Voice at Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, California.
