Carlos Aguilar, Bass
2005 – 2008
During the 2011-12 season, engagements for CARLOS AGUILAR include the role of the Old Hebrew (Samson et Dalila) and the King of Egypt (Aida), both with West Bay Opera. Other roles performed recently include tio Sarvaor (La vida breve), the Mayor (La forza del destino), D’Obigny (La traviata), the Bonze (Madama Butterfly) and Zuniga (Carmen), all for West Bay Opera. For Livermore Valley Opera, he appeared as the Bonze, and performed the role of the Commendatore (Don Giovanni) for Open Opera in Berkeley.
While a principal artist of OSJ’s resident company, Mr. Aguilar performed the roles of Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor), The Bailiff (Werther), Sparafucile (Rigoletto) and Sarastro (The Magic Flute) during the 2007 – 2008 season. Other roles performed with the company include Frere Laurent (Roméo et Juliette), Basilio (The Barber of Seville), Dr. Grenville (La traviata), the Bonze (Madama Butterfly), Reverend John Hale (The Crucible), Count de Horn (A Masked Ball), Colline (La bohème), Commendatore (Don Giovanni), Morales (Carmen) and Nourabad in Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers.
Mr. Aguilar was first place winner in both the 2005 San Jose Opera Guild and San Jose Woman’s Club competitions.
