Chloe Smart returns in the 2015-16 season as an Associate member of the resident ensemble, performing the role of Frasquita in Carmen. Roles performed recently for OSJ include the Countess Ceprano (Rigoletto), Padrona (Where Angels Fear to Tread), and the Second Lady (The Magic Flute). Ms. Smart made her Opera San José debut in the 2013-14 season as the Sandman in Hansel and Gretel. She has previously been seen in the Opera San José chorus for Don Giovanni, Madama Butterfly, Falstaff, La traviata as well as Il trovatore. Operatic accomplishments include performing Contessa Almaviva with San Jose State University’s Opera Theater, and Ilia at Opera Academy of California.
On the concert stage, she has been heard as a soloist for Bach’s Mass in B Minor, Bach’s Magnificat, Handel’s Messiah, Fauré’s Requiem, and Mozart’s Coronation Mass. In December 2014, Ms. Smart graduated with a Bachelor of Music with a concentration in Vocal Performance from San Jose State University.
