Baritone Nikolaus Schiffmann returns during the 2006 - 2007 season to perform the role of Gregorio in Roméo et Juliette. Previous roles with OSJ include Christian (A Masked Ball) and Masetto (Don Giovanni). Mr. Schiffman made his company debut as Dancairo (Carmen) during Opera San José's 2004 - 2005 season. Other roles performed recently include Colline (La bohème) with Portland Opera Works, the Imperial Commissioner (Madama Butterfly) with Opera Santa Barbara, Schaunard (La bohème) with San Francisco Lyric Opera, Masetto (Don Giovanni) for West Bay Opera and San Francisco Lyric Opera, and Zuniga (Carmen) and Alidoro (La cenerentola) for Bay Shore Lyric Opera. With the UCSC Opera, Mr. Schiffmann performed the roles of Escamillo and Zuniga (Carmen) Dulcamara (L'elisir d'amore) and the title role in Gianni Schicchi. |
