Jason Sarten,
Baritone

 

 

 

 


Jason Sarten returns to Opera San José during the 2006 - 2007 season as Count Capulet (Roméo et Juliette), Fiorello (Il barbiere di Siviglia), the Marquis (La traviata), and Prince Yamadori (Madama Butterfly). Mr. Sarten made his company debut last season as Benoit/Alcindoro in La bohème. Recent roles performed include Count Almaviva and Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Dr. Falke (Die Fledermas), Dandini (La Cenerentola), Valentin (Faust) and Marcello (la bohème) with companies including West Bay Opera, Berkeley Opera, Lamplighters Music Theatre, Opera Ft. Collins, Donald Pippen's Pocket Opera, Abilene Opera Association, Cinnabar Opera and Bay Shore Lyric Opera.

On the concert stage, Mr. Sarten has performed as  soloist in the requiem masses of Mozart, Faure and Durufle, Handel's Messiah, Vaughan William's Five Mystical Songs, Orff's Carmina Burana and Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.

OTher recent performances include Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and Choral Fantasie with the San Francisco Music Center, the role of Watchful the Porter in the West Coast premiere of Vaughn William's The Pilgrim's Progress for Trinity Lyric Opera, and Whazir (Kismet) for Long Leaf Opera of North Carolina.
