Vitali Rozynko appears as Germont in OSJ's 2006 - 2007 production of
La traviata. Mr. Rozynko recently made several successful
debuts, including his performance as Schaunard (La bohème) with
Boston Lyric Opera which received critical acclaim. Other recent
performances include his Italian debut at the Spoleto Festival as
Salvatore in Menotti's The Saint of Bleecker Street which
received a Grammy nomination, and he performed the role of the
Imperial Commissioner (Madama Butterfly) with Seiji Ozawa and
the Boston Symphony Orchestra. On the concert stage, he was a featured
soloist with The American Bach Soloists in a concert of Bach cantatas,
and also made a debut performance at both the Ravinia Festival and
Wigmore Hall.
Other recent engagements have included Handel’s Messiah and
Bach’s Cantatas with The American Bach Soloists, Masetto and
the title role in Don Giovanni with Opera Colorado, and
recently Masetto in the highly publicized Don Juan in Prague at
the new Fisher Center for the Performing Arts. During the spring of
2005 Mr. Rozynko sang the leading role in Hindemith's opera Sancta
Susanna in the acclaimed production by Margrith Vrenegoor with
Opera Spanga which toured the Netherlands and later a performance of
Mozart's Requiem in Paris.
Engagements for the
2003-2004 season included a return to Opera Colorado as Schaunard
(la bohème), a debut as Silvio (Pagliacci) with Mississippi
Opera, his debut as a soloist in Bernstein's Mass with
L'Orchestre National d'Ile de France, and a return to Bard for
Francesca Zambello's production of Shostakovich's The Nose.
Mr. Rozynko has performed Harlekin (Ariadne auf Naxos) with
Opera Colorado, Baron Douphol (La traviata), Sciarrone
(Tosca), and the Second Philistine (Samson et Dalila) at
Cincinnati Opera, Bello (La Fanciulla del West) with Santa Fe
Opera, Guglielmo (Così fan tutte) at the Aldeburgh Festival,
Nardo (Die Gartnerin aus Liebe) at the London Royal Opera,
Masetto (Don Giovanni) at Chelsea Opera under Sir Colin Davis,
Don Fernando (Fidelio) with the Rochester Philharmonic, and Mr.
Bluff (The Impresario) at the Opera Theatre of Rochester.
Upcoming engagements
will feature Mr. Rozynko in a debut with the Concertgebouw in the fall
of 2006 when he will take part in Zemlinsky's opera Der König
Kandaules. He will then return to the Concertgebouw in
spring 2007 to sing the role of Deceit in Gerald Barry's opera The
Triumph of Beauty and Deceit.
