Ariela Morgenstern makes her company debut with Opera San José during the 2006 - 2007 season as Berta in The Barber of Seville. Recent engagements for Ms. Morgenstern include the title role in Carmen with San Francisco Lyric Opera, U.C. Santa Cruz Opera, and Bay Shore Lyric Opera, Dorabella (Così fan tutte) with Pacific Repertory Opera, Hansel (Hansel and Gretel) with Opera A La Carte, Siebel (Faust) with Livermore Valley Opera, and Mother Goose (The Rakes Progress) and Jenny (The Three Penny Opera), both with West Bay Opera. On the concert stage, Ms. Morgenstern was the featured soloist in the Carnegie Hall premiere of Imant Raminsh's Symphony of Psalms. Specializing in the music of Kurt Weill, Ms. Morgenstern has performed Weimar-era cabaret music extensively in San Francisco, and recently received rave reviews for her portrayal of Jenny in Weill's The Threepenny Opera with West Bay Opera. She sings regularly with Charming Hostess, an a capella group, and is one of the founding members of the cabaret trio Girlkulture. Awards and accolades include SF Weekly's Best Theatre Ensemble award in 2005 for her performance with the political satire troupe Rococo Risqui.
