| Making
his debut as a member of Opera San José's resident company, Isaac
Hurtado will perform the roles of Roméo (Roméo et Juliette), Alfredo (La traviata)
and Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) during the 2006 - 2006
season. Mr. Hurtado recently received critical praise for his
performance in the title role of Festival Opera's production of
Candide in summer 2005. Other roles performed recently include
Roméo (Roméo et Juliette) for Festival Opera, Roderigo (Otello)
for New Orleans Opera, Ferrando (Così fan tutte) for Opera
Circle of Cleveland and Alfredo (La traviata) for Opera del
Sol. Mr. Hurtado has also performed numerous roles with Central City
Opera, Opera North, Cincinnati Opera and Utah Festival Opera. Upcoming
engagements include the role of Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) with
Festival Opera.
Awards received include being named national Finalist in the Heinz
Rehfuss Competition and first place divisional winner in the Utah
Mozart Festival Meistersänger Competition. In 2003, Mr. Hurtado was
the winner of the Hannah Beaulieu Career Development Award
Competition.
Mr. Hurtado, who
recently received his DM in Voice Performance from Florida State
University, served as apprentice artist with Central City Opera, Opera
North and the Utah Festival Opera.
