Michele Detwiler,
Mezzo-soprano

During the 2006 - 2007 season, Michele Detwiler returns as a member of the resident company to perform the roles of Stephano (Roméo et Juliette) and Rosina (The Barber of Seville). Last season, Ms. Detwiler performed the roles of Elizabeth Proctor (The Crucible),
Ulrica Arvidsson (A Masked Ball) and Zerlina (Don Giovanni). Other OSJ roles performed include Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), the title role in Carmen, Mary (Der fliegende Holländer), Santuzza (Cavalleria rusticana), Prince Orlovsky (Die Fledermaus), Angelina (La Cenerentola), Siebel (Faust), Azucena (Il trovatore), Third Lady (Die Zauberflöte),  Dorabella (Così fan tutte) and Suzuki (Madama Butterfly)

For the Apollo and Sacramento Opera companies, Ms. Detwiler was seen as the Third Lady (Die Zauberflöte) and Kate Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly). She has also appeared with San Francisco Lyric Opera in the roles of Echo (Ariadne auf Naxos) and Fricka (Das Rheingold ) and for West Bay Opera as the Voice of Mother (Les Contes d'Hoffmann)

Concert appearances have featured Ms. Detwiler in the Saint-Saens Christmas Oratorio, Handel's Messiah, and Mahler's Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen. During the summer of 2005, Ms. Detwiler was a featured soloist with Monterey Opera. In 2000, Ms. Detwiler was a Regional Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Competition.
