Omar Gutierrez Crook makes his company debut during
the 2006 - 2007 season as Almaviva in The Barber of Seville.
Recognized for his refined lyric voice, Mr. Gutierrez Crook has appeared as a
soloist on both the operatic and concert stage in venues throughout the
world. Most recently, Mr. Gutierrez Crook performed in Beijing's Forbidden City as
tenor soloist in Mozart’s Requiem.
Other recent performances include Eric
Whitacre’s Paradise Lost: Opera Electronca, in which Mr. Gutierrez
Crook
premiered the role of Fervio, Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Alfredo
(La traviata), Nemorino (L'elisir d'amore), and Almaviva (Barber
of Seville), all with the Repertory Opera Company of Los Angeles.
With Lyric Opera of Los Angeles, he performed the roles of des Grieux in
Auber’s Manon Lescaut, Beppe (Rita), Fernando (Goyescas),
and was a featured soloist in Opera Pacific’s production of Candide.
Upcoming solo performances include
Eduardo in Verdi’s un Giorno di Regno and a Paradise
Lost original cast recording and world tour in 2007. A frequent
performer on the concert stage, Mr. Gutierrez Crook recently appeared in recital
with the Israeli Opera Studio, and has appeared as a soloist with such
ensembles as The Boston Pops, Pacific Chorale, John Alexander Singers,
and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, under the batons of John Mauceri,
Keith Lockhart, and John Alexander.
