Matthew Antaky
Lighting Designer
Matthew
Antaky returns during the 2006 - 2007 season as set and lighting designer
for The Barber of Seville following his company debut last season as lighting designer for
The Crucible. Since 1985, Mr. Antaky has created both scenic and lighting
designs for the performing arts including theater, opera, dance and music.
Mr
Antaky's recent scenic and/or lighting design credits include
Festival Opera’s
productions of Un ballo in Maschera and Candide. Recent premiere productions
include Mark Foehringer Dance Project’s Diadorum, the Balinese dance
and music production of Cudamani, Liss Fain Dance Companies Home
Season Eclipse of the Soul and The Oakland East Bay Symphony’s
production of Bernstein’s MASS at the Paramount Theater.
Additionally, he has designed productions of the MASS for the Dallas
Symphony, Promusica Chamber Orchestra, St. Luke’s Orchestra at Carnegie Hall
and for the Cabrillo Music Festival. Mr. Antaky also created the scenic and
lighting designs for Cabrillo Music Festival’s full stage productions of
Copland’s Tender Land, Phillip Glass’s Photographer and Lou
Harrison’s Rapunzel.
His
design history includes many years with such companies as Stephen Pelton
Dance Theater, Liss Fain Dance Company, La Tania Flamenco, Lily Cai Dance
Company, Chitresh Das Dance Company, The San Francisco World Music Festival,
Lines Contemporary Ballet Company, Flyaway Productions, A Traveling Jewish
Theater, Karen Finley and The Joe Goode Performance Group, among many
others.
Mr.
Antaky is a five-time nominee and two-time recipient of the Isadora Duncan
award for Outstanding Visual Design.
